One reason I chose this name is to honor
Ursula Andress, the original
Bond Girl who played "Honey Ryder" in
Dr. No:
a definitive manly film. Since
my woman is a redhead, I thought my car should be named after a redhead.
Actually, it was hard to determine what Ursula's real hair color is because some websites listed it as "blonde". I think I'll split the difference and call her a "strawberry blonde".
I like strawberries.
I suppose I could have chosen another woman--a more definitive redhead--but I wanted an unusal name; one that better fits my style. And since I consider my style to be "manly but nerdy", I thought it fitting that Ms. Andress also appeared as "Aphrodite" in
Clash of the Titans: a definitive nerdy film.
The other reason I chose the name Ursula is to honor
Lisa Kudrow, who played both "Phoebe" and "Ursula" on
Friends. Phoebe has always been Marby's favorite "female friend", so I thought her nemesis (my car) should be named after Phoebe's evil twin sister. The "Anti-Phoebe", if you will.

In other news: I'm somewhat disappointed with what VH-1 is calling "Metal Month". I was hoping that they would air heavy metal videos all day, but they've merely reserved a nighttime slot (usually 11 PM) to air "metal-themed" programming. It's not so much the programs that disappoint me, but the times they've chosen to air them.
This was also my one complaint with MTV's "Heavy Metal Mania", as well as the subsequent "Headbanger's Ball". When I was younger, these shows would air around midnight on Saturday--prime party time! What metalhead teen wanted to stay home on a Saturday night?
Now, if those metalhead teens--who are now working adults with families--want to watch the VH-1 shows, they have to stay up past their bedtime; or in my case, they have to miss them because they are at
work.
Yeah yeah, TiVo my ass!
I'll get it when it's free.
Same goes for VH-1 Classic.
That channel really should be on basic cable.

Clash of the Titians is a true classic. If it is nerdy then a nerd I shall be. Oh wait, I already am one...
